The women's soccer schedule wraps up on Sunday
It’s the final weekend of the women’s PACWEST regular season schedule with three teams still fighting for two playoff spots with two games remaining coming off the Thanksgiving bye.

VIU Mariners @ Capilano Blues – 1:00pm – Squamish Turf Field – WATCH HERE
The Mariners are the only PACWEST women’s team to hold a playoff spot after clinching first place before last weekend’s bye. They have been outstanding and have already punched their ticket to the Conference gold medal game next weekend. Just because they have clinched, don’t expect them to take their cleats off the gas peddle as they face a Blues team that was the last team to beat them. Since that 1-0 loss on the Island, the Mariners haven’t allowed a goal, four straight games.
In the three previous meetings with the Blues, they have outscored them 10-3, exploding for five goals twice.
The Blues are on the outside looking in at the postseason picture, four points out of the final playoff spot. They need to beat the Mariners on Saturday then take down the Langara Falcons on Sunday to have any hope of punching their ticket. They are unbeaten in their last three games finishing in a tie and will need to have a similar performance that they turned in during their last meeting with the Mariners.

With four points separating these two in the standings, this is a potential semifinal preview as the Falcons and Royals square off for the final time during the regular season.
The Falcons offence has stumbled as of late and haven’t scored a goal in four straight games. Oddly enough the last time they found the back of the net was against the Royals in a 1-0 victory. They have had good success against the Royals this season winning twice and playing to a tie so all three meetings have been close and have outscored them 3-1.
On the other side the Royals have been unbeaten in their last four games following that 1-0 loss to the Falcons. They have finished in a draw in the last three games so they are recording points, just not as many as they would like and have scored just two goals over this span. Their last two games on the season are on their home pitch and if they win on Saturday, they will officially eliminate the Capilano Blues and clinch a playoff spot.

This could be a PACWEST gold medal preview when the Mariners visit the Royals on Sunday to conclude the regular season. In the previous three meetings, the Mariners have won twice, then played to a scoreless draw in their last matchup. Offensively the Mariners have recorded six goals and have only allowed one to the Royals which happened 42 days ago.
