Capilano University is proud to announce the appointment of Stephanie von Riedemann as the new Head Coach of the Blues Women’s Basketball program. A dedicated and community-oriented leader, Stephanie brings a wealth of experience in high-level training, tactical strategy, and program development to the Blues. She also has playing experience, having previously competed in the Pacific Western Athletics Association (PACWEST).
A Familiar Face in the Blues Family
Stephanie is no stranger to the Capilano community, having served as an Assistant Coach for the Blues during the 2025-2026 season when they won a PACWEST Bronze medal at the PACWEST Provincial Championship. During her tenure as an assistant, she was instrumental in developing weekly scouting reports, assisting with offensive and defensive strategies, and leading on-court practices. Her deep understanding of the program’s culture and her active role in recruiting incoming players make her the ideal leader to guide the team into its next chapter.
Proven Leadership and Program Growth
Beyond her time with the Blues, Stephanie has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build and scale athletic programs. As the Girls Program Director at Vancity Girls Basketball Academy, she oversaw a period of massive expansion, growing the program from 50 participants in 2022 to 175 by 2026. Her international coaching experience includes leading teams to a bronze medal at the Taiwan Taro Cup International Tournament in 2025.
Her technical expertise is further bolstered by her experience as a Performance Analyst for UBC Women’s Basketball, where she utilized film analysis and statistical insights to drive player and team development.
Championship Vision and Philosophy
Stephanie’s coaching philosophy is centered on high standards of respect, team chemistry, and a championship mindset. She is committed to fostering an environment where player development and competitive excellence go hand-in-hand.
"I am committed to building a strong program with standards of respect, player development, team chemistry, and competitive, championship mindsets."
We are excited to welcome Coach von Riedemann into this new role and look forward to the continued growth and success of the Women’s Basketball program under her leadership.
