Women's Basketball Rewind - Week 1
The Kermodes, Blues and Mariners each tasted victory in the opening weekend
The PACWEST opened the 2016-2017 women’s basketball season this past weekend as the Kermodes, Blues and Mariners each claimed victory. Check out the “Rewind” of all the action.

The defending PACWEST bronze medalists started the season strong with a well played road win leading from wire to wire. Last season’s Rookie of the Year Jordin Wilkinson was 9 of 14 from the field and finished with 21 points to lead all scorers. Olivia Mjaaland chipped in with 11 points while Emily Lachenmayer dropped in 10. As a team they shot 43.9% from the field.
The Falcons scored 20 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as they shot 32% from the field. Haylee Robertson led her club with 12 points while Coco Suave tallied for 11, hitting three from behind the arch.
The Kermodes (1-0) will stay on the road and play at CBC (0-0) on Thursday, while the Falcons (0-1) also play CBC this weekend, but not until Saturday.

The Blues exploded in the second half scoring 43 of their 66 points. Four players hit double digits led by Carmelle M’Bikata and her 16 points. Robyn Aulin-Haynes collected 13 points while the team shot 40% from the floor.
Percentage wise the Royals had a better game offensively shooting 43%. Rachel Beauchamp led her club with a double-double of 15 points and 13 boards in the loss.
On Friday the Blues (1-0) stay on the road and will face the Camosun Chargers (0-1).

It came right down to the end of the game as the Mariners held service and beat the Chargers by one point 53-52.
The defending champion Mariners shot just 29% from the field but got the shots to drop when it mattered the most. Celina Guadagni led her club with 15 points including hitting three from downtown while Victoria Brown collected 11 points.
The Chargers had just one scorer to get into double digits; Jasmine Montgomery had a team high 15 points including hitting three from behind the arch. They shot 23% from the field as a team 21% from the three point line.
The Mariners (1-0) will now host the Douglas College Royals (0-1) on Saturday night at 6:00pm. The Chargers (0-1) will host their home opener on Friday when they welcome the Capilano Blues (1-0).
