Royals Hire Gabriel Burlacu
Gabriel Burlacu has been named the head coach of men's volleyball program

Douglas College Athletics is excited to announce that Gabriel Burlacu has been named the head coach of the men's volleyball program. Burlacu comes with a wealth of experience in the local volleyball community, currently serving as the Technical Director and head coach of both the 16U and 18U boys' programs at APEX Volleyball Club. In addition, he was the Lead Assistant Coach for the UBC men's volleyball program from 2022 to 2024 and has represented Canada as a member of the beach volleyball national team program.
"I'm honoured and excited to step into the role of head coach for the Douglas men's volleyball program," said Burlacu. "Douglas has a strong tradition of excellence, and I'm eager to build on that foundation by creating a competitive, high-performance environment where our student-athletes can grow on and off the court.
"I look forward to showcasing the talented local athletes in our community. My goal is to develop a culture of accountability, pride, and teamwork while positioning the program to compete for titles in the years to come."

Burlacu will begin his role as head coach immediately.
