The Avalanche and Mariners win on Friday night
Men’s PACWEST volleyball entered Week 11 on Friday night and the home teams swept the floor.

The Avalanche followed the lead of their women counterparts on Friday night with a convincing three-set sweep over the visiting Chargers.
They would open the weekend with a hard fought 25-21 win to take control of the match, then followed that up with another close 25-20 to take a commanding 2-0 lead. They didn’t take their foot off the gas in the third and ended Friday night with a dominating 25-11 win for their 13th victory of the season.
On Saturday afternoon the Avalanche (13-2) will entertain the Chargers (7-8) for the final time this year.
VIU Mariners 3
Douglas Royals 0
The VIU Mariners came out with bravado on Friday night coming off their bye and swept the visiting Royals and move into a second-place tie in the process.
They opened the match with a 25-22 victory, then kept that momentum with a 25-21 win in the second to take full control of the match. In the third, the Mariners stepped up their play and made quick work of the Royals winning 25-15 for their eighth win of the season.
On Saturday afternoon the Mariners (8-7) and Royals (7-8) meet again with important points in the standings on the line. They will meet at 3:00pm for the final time in the regular season.
