PACWEST Wins Bronze
The PACWEST earns a CCAA national bronze medal in curling!
The PACWEST women’s curling team captured a CCAA national bronze medal on Saturday in Regina with a 5-4 victory over Concordia.
The defending CCAA champions jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the first end before the Thunder came back with a point in the second, then another in the third to take their first lead.
Staying calm, cool and collective, the PACWEST squad retook the lead in the top of the fourth end with two points. The Thunder again came right back to tie the game at three with another single point in the fifth end. The teams then traded points in the sixth and seventh, before the PACWEST team scored their fifth and final point in the top of the eighth to claim the bronze.
It’s the second straight year the PACWEST, skipped by Emily Bowles (Camosun) earns a national medal after winning gold last season. For Lauren Cochrane (Okanagan) and Erin Fitzgibbon (Langara) it’s also their second consecutive medal with Ashley Fenton (Douglas) collecting her first as the only newcomer to the team.
Congratulations to the student athletes of the PACWEST curling team.
