The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is proud to announce that Rachael Pelat is to be inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame, recognizing her remarkable career as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in Canadian collegiate women’s soccer.
The CCAA Hall of Fame honours the remarkable achievements of individuals who have significantly contributed to Canadian collegiate athletics. The athlete category recognizes those whose outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship at the collegiate level that have left a lasting impact on their sport, their institution, and the CCAA as a whole.
Pelat competed for Langara College from 2004 to 2007, helping establish the program as a national powerhouse and etching her name into the CCAA record books with a legacy of leadership, excellence, and competitive dominance.
A two-time CCAA National Champion, Pelat was instrumental in securing back-to-back national titles for the Langara Falcons in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Her impact on the field was immediate and consistent, recognized early with a CCAA Tournament All-Star nod in her second year and culminating in a historic final season.
“Pelat was the backbone of our defense and an elite competitor every time she stepped on the field,” said Jake McCallum, Director, Student Life and Athletics. “She anchored our back-to-back CCAA National Championship teams and earned recognition as the best in the country with her CCAA National Player of the Year award. She’s one of the all-time greats to wear the Falcons jersey.”
In 2006-07, Pelat’s final year of competition, she led her team to a CCAA National Championship title and capped off the season with a series of individual honours. She was named the CCAA Athlete of the Month, earned All-Canadian recognition, and was selected once again as a CCAA Tournament All-Star. Her outstanding play that season also earned her the prestigious CCAA Player of the Year award, further underscoring her dominant performance at both the regional and national levels.
Rachael Pelat’s blend of skill, vision, and composure made her one of the most dynamic players in PACWEST history. Her ability to perform in high-pressure moments was critical to Langara’s national success, and her legacy continues to inspire student-athletes across the conference.
