The top seeded Chargers will see their first action at the PACWEST championship tournament on Friday night when they meet the #5 Coyotes in a men’s semifinal.
They met four times during regular season with the Chargers winning all four games by an average point margin of 13.2 points a game. They haven’t seen each other since January, but the Chargers were no doubt in the stands on Thursday night when the Coyotes eliminated the Langara Falcons in a high scoring affair.
Coming into the playoffs the Chargers have won nine in a row and have only lost once since the calendar turned over to 2026. They are shooting 41% and scoring over 78 points a game led by the PACWEST Player of the Year David Finch dropping in 16.6 a game.
Their offence has been good, but their defence has been incredible holding teams to 70 points and can create turnovers on each possession. The Coyotes will represent some matchup problems for them so adjustments will be key as the game progresses.
As mentioned, the Coyotes won their quarterfinal on Thursday night, their first playoff win since 2020. They knocked down 14-three pointers led by Inder Deol and his eight for a game high 29 points. As a team they shot 44% in the victory. Defensively they took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter allowing the Falcons to come back, making the outcome a lot closer than it could have been.
The winner advances to the PACWEST gold medal game on Saturday night at 8:00pm.
