The men’s bracket at the PACWEST championship tournament opens on Thursday in a rematch of the 2020 quarterfinal between the Blues and Coyotes, however this time around they have switched seeding positions.
The Blues are the third seed and coming into the tournament won two of their final three games. Due to the washed-out roads in November and lack of time to reschedule games the Blues only saw the Coyotes once this year and it was three weeks ago when they claimed a 90-81 victory at home. That game they shot 38.3% from the field as CJ Campbell scored 24 points and Sam Bailey recording a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Coming into the quarterfinal the Coyotes have been playing better. They won five games this season, three of which came in their last four games. Against the Blues in their only meeting, they shot 40.3% led by Omon Edobar who tallied a game high 27 points and Seth Blundell dropped in 16. Both these players did not play in the final two regular season games.
The winner moves onto face the #2 Camosun Chargers in Friday’s semi-final.
