Schill and Bruce lead their teams
The PACWEST is pleased to announce the Week 8 volleyball Athletes of the Week as the best of the best from this past weekend.
Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Emma Schill – Capilano Blues
The rookie excelled during a weekend sweep of CBC, packing the stat sheet in both contests. In Friday’s win she racked up 23 kills along with 11 digs, four aces, and three blocks. Then Saturday just was just as dynamic with seven kills, four assists, three aces, and two digs. The seven total aces came against only two service errors. She also rallied the Blues from being down 24-21 in the fourth set of Saturday’s contest, as her serving helped the Blues win five-straight points and close out a four-set victory.
Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Nick Bruce – UFV Cascades
The veteran led his club to a road weekend sweep of the Douglas Royals. The outside hitter from Surrey, racked up a team-high 14 kills to go with five blocks, three aces and seven digs in Friday’s four-set triumph. On Saturday, he authored a clinical three-set victory, contributing seven kills and eight digs. For the weekend, Bruce racked up 29 total points, good for a 4.14 points-per-set average, while hitting .386.
