The Falcons flew out of the gate on Thursday night outscoring the Bearcats 22-11 in the first quarter and never really looked back en route to their seventh win of the campaign. Thursday night’s game was the first of a home-and-home this weekend between these two schools.
Offensively they had 10 different scorers hit the scoresheet led by Nyssa Sunner off the bench with 18 points, including four-three pointers in 18 minutes. Three of their five starters scored at least 10 points and as a team they shot 48% from the field. On the defensive side they created 29 turnovers and recorded 12 steals helping their cause.
For the Bearcats, their offence is struggling to score points, falling for the ninth time this year. They shot 38% in the ballgame with Katelyn Mallette knocking down 17 points on 7-12 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Kagari Tomita added 14 points, eight of them from the free throw line as she continues to be their most consistent scorer.
The Falcons (7-12) and Bearcats (10-9) will have Friday off before resuming their weekend on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm as the scene shifts to Abbotsford.
