Blues Sweep

The Capilano Blues made quick work of the CBC Bearcats this afternoon at the PACWEST volleyball championship winning in three straight sets and punching their ticket to the semis on Friday.

Despite a number of early service errors, the Blues were able to rebound and keep the Bearcats guessing on offence. Markiel Simpson led all attackers with 10 kills and Justin Yee had eight. Setter Simon Friesen was named Player of the Match with 26 assists and a kill.

The Bearcats’ season comes to a close. Jacob Molitwenik led the offence with six kills and setter Graham Walkey was named the Player of the Match with 17 assists and a kill.

For the Blues it was their first playoff win since 2013 and they will now face the four-time defending champion Camosun Chargers in Friday’s semi-final at 3:00pm MST.
