The Mariners used a big third quarter to push past the Chargers on Friday night outscoring them by 10 points in the frame. Team leader Avery Snider paced the Mariners offence with 18 points and knocked down two-three pointers. Amber Lee was also a major contributor finishing with 16 points and eight assists.
Other than the third quarter the Chargers hung tight with the first place Mariners and were led by Tessa Lannon-Paakspuu’s 15 points. Lauren Jenzen was solid off the bench with 14 points including hitting three-threes.
Saturday night the scene shifts to VIU when the Mariners (16-1) welcome the Chargers (11-6) at 6:00pm. WATCH HERE

Both teams played their final game of the regular season on Friday night as the Royals (10-8) won their 10th of the season. In her final career regular season game Rachel Beauchamp led the Royals with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Castillo came off the bench and had a game high 19 points knocking down four-three pointers.
On the other side of the floor the Falcons (6-12) dressed just seven players and were led by Breanne Homeniuk coming off the bench to drop 14 points. Alexa Leynes added 12 and Renai Fejo dropped 11.

Okanagan Coyotes 52
It’s always important to get off to a good start and on Friday the Blues (13-4) did exactly that outscoring the Coyotes 22-9 in the first quarter and never looked back. They shot 39% from the field with four of their five starters hitting double-digits. Sherrie Errico dropped a team high 16 points on the strength of three-three pointers. Reiko Ohama scored 15 and Mackenzie Smith had 12 points and 12 boards.
With the win the Blues clinched second place in the standings and a first round bye in the playoffs.
The visiting Coyotes’ (5-12) offence struggled to find their grove. Kasey Patchell nailed four-three pointers and finished with 16 points and Elizabeth Henne played all 40 minutes scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
