Plenty on the line this weekend as these two teams are separated by just two points in the standings in the battle for first place. These schools haven’t met since the first week of the season and split the weekend. The first place Royals have won five straight while the Blues have won four of their last five. After Friday’s match they will meet again on Saturday in the regular season finale.

The defending PACWEST champion Mariners currently sit in a second place tie with the Capilano Blues with a home and home against their Island rival. In their first meeting at the beginning of the season the Chargers won two straight. Coming into this weekend the Mariners have won 13 of their last 14 matches while the Chargers who have locked down fourth place have lost three straight. Saturday these two will meet again in Nanaimo.

These two teams know where they will finish heading into the final weekend of the season. The Cascades will finish sixth in the final playoff spot while the Bearcats have been eliminated from the post season. In the first week of the season the Cascades won in a sweep on the first night, then squeaked past the Bearcats in a fifth set 16-14 the next night. Coming into tonight the Cascades are still looking for their first win in 2020 as are the Bearcats who haven’t tasted victory since October 25th.
