Over the past five seasons the UFV Cascades have showed a solid offensive side featuring a number of “big hitters.” Very few however have seen the success of Joel Kleingeltink.
He not only has made it difficult on opposing defences from his relentless attack, but the public address announcers at various PACWEST schools trying to pronounce his last name as well.
On the floor the Langley native was simply outstanding in his fifth and final season. He smashed 240 kills, tallied 328 total offensive points, had 55 blocks and 33 service aces. His 4.05 points on a per set basis was second highest in the PACWEST, was named a CCAA All-Canadian, just the third Cascade to do so and was named a PACWEST First Team All-Star.
Now that he has graduated from the Cascades volleyball program, he leaves a big hole to fill. Head Coach Kyle Donen will miss the All-Canadian on the floor, “Joel has been a huge part of this program for the last five years and to receive this honor is very well deserving. He's worked hard to reach his full potential in this sport and I could not be more proud of what he has accomplished. I am excited to see what level of greatness he achieves next.”
Kleingeltink has been a force on both sides of the net and over the course of his career amassed 849 kills, 1113 total offensive points and 108 service aces. On the defensive side he tallied 434 digs and 162 blocks.
Not only is he stellar on the court, but in the classroom as well, enrolled in the business program at the University of the Fraser Valley.
