VIU’s Jocelyn Jones is a 3rd year guard from Highline Community College in Washington. This past weekend, the UNBC Timberwolves made the trip to the Island to take on the VIU Mariners. Jones was outstanding in a 73-57 win shooting 11/14 from the field and scoring a game high 28 points while adding 4 steals and 3 assists. Jones continues to provide VIU with scoring in a variety of ways. "Jocelyn has been our most consistent scorer all season, she can score in a variety of ways and is a difficult match-up" stated coach McWhinnie. "She has also been terrific defensively and has the ability to get all her teammates involved in the offense".
The Mariners round out the 2011-12 season with a road trip to Capilano University and Quest University this coming weekend. A victory from either game will secure a bye in the first round of the playoffs but first place is still up for grabs between UNBC and VIU.
