Dan Cato is a 3rd year 6’2” centre back from Campbell River. He has been instrumental in helping the Vancouver Island University men’s soccer team clinch 1st place in Pool B of the PACWEST men’s division. On Saturday, VIU hosted Capilano University at Mariner field. Cato had a great game at centre back winning tackles and any ball in the air with great authority. Dan led by example from the back helping his team to another clean sheet for the Mariners shutting down the Blues attack. Not only was Cato involved defensively but he contributed to the Mariner offense by adding a goal himself with an enormous header off a corner kick making it 2-0.
