Sam McPhail

Sam McPhail is a second-year center from Vancouver's Lord Byng High School enrolled in the Criminology Program at KPU. McPhail held the paint defensively in KPU's contest against CBC and was a commanding presence in the victory over the Douglas College Royals getting 3 rebounds and scoring 17 points including shooting 5 for 6 (83%) from the free throw line and successfully defending Royal's forward Amonda Francis. Her presence offensively and defensively contributed to the KPU Eagles must-win games this past weekend to claim sole possession of the 6th Place Provincial qualifying slot at the end of Week 8 PACWEST action and breaking a 5-game losing streak.

Ali Bosir

Ali Bosir is a veteran third-year student-athlete from Surrey, B.C. He is currently enrolled in the Association of Arts General Program.  This 6’6” centre recorded two double-doubles over the weekend as the Eagles played host to CBC and then travelled to Douglas College. Bosir had a phenomenal presence in the paint, offensively and defensively, in both weekend matches for the Eagles.

On Friday night, the Bearcats came to town. Bosir had an outstanding game against CBC. Recording his first double-double of the season, Bosir had 18 points, 18 rebounds and 2 assists. He also thrilled the home team crowd with a huge dunk over two of CBC's players. Kwantlen went on to victory in their season home opener.

AJ Adusei

AJ Adusei is a second year point guard from North Delta Secondary School. Adusei has had two straight exceptional weekends. In last week’s season opening weekend on the Island, Adusei recorded 72 combined points in Kwantlen’s two losses to VIU and Camosun.  This 2nd year point guard continued his torrid pace recording 73 combined points this past weekend in a split with Capilano and Quest.

On Friday night Adusei scored 30 points in a close hard fought defeat against Capilano University. He also added 4 rebounds and 7 assists in the 89-84 loss.

He followed up that performance by dropping in 43 points in a victory against the Quest Kermodes on Saturday night. In Saturday's match-up Adusei used his quick first step and his explosive speed to penetrate the Kermodes defense. He shot an impressive 17 of 20 from the free throw line (85%) against Quest and was a major reason that the Eagles won their first league game of the season.
