Jeff Chu

Jeff Chu is in his 2nd year with the Langara Falcons. After spending the 2005-06 season with Kwantlen and then taking 5 years off, Chu returned to the PACWEST in 2011-12 with Langara. The 6’0”, 3rd year guard from Richmond, B.C., had an outstanding weekend to finish out the PACWEST regular season. The new 21 game league schedule was the most games ever in league play. With an 18-1 record, Langara had already tied the record books for wins with 18 but had 2 more games to break it. The previous record was an 18-0 season by the 2008-09 VIU Mariners.

On Friday night the Falcons took on their cross town rivals, the Capilano Blues. It was over early as the Falcons got off to a quick start and lead the Blues 31-12 after the first quarter. Chu contributed in every aspect of the game with 13 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. Langara would win 90-69 to set a new PACWEST record with their 19th win.

On Saturday the Falcons faced the Quest Kermodes who are sitting in 3rd place in the PACWEST. With an opportunity to add to the record book, the Falcons did not disappoint. The first half was a tight contest with the Falcons up 8 at the half, but in the third quarter Langara pulled away, ending their regular season with a 105-75 win and the league leading 20th win under the stellar coaching of Paul Eberhardt.

Jeff Chu had another outstanding night contributing 22 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists, and 3 steals. Over the entire weekend, Chu shot a combined 48% from the field and 92% from the Free throw line. The Falcons now look forward to the PACWEST Provincials which will take place Feb. 28 to March 2 at Camosun College in Victoria B.C.
