Tyler Olsen

The VIU Mariners entered this past weekend 4 points behind the league leading Langara Falcons.  With games against CBC and Kwantlen, Tyler Olsen came up big. The 6’ 6” fifth year forward from Fanny Bay, BC, Olsen helped his team to two very important wins this weekend.

On Friday night vs CBC, Olsen scored 19 points had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal while sitting the entire fourth quarter.  He followed up Friday’s performance with a career high 32 points and added 7 rebounds and 4 steals.  19 of the points came in the second half to help extend the Mariners 3 point half time lead to 22.

Both victories helped VIU stay on pace, 4 points behind the Falcons in the league standings. Next up for the Mariners is a road trip to Douglas and Langara College’s where they hope to close the gap in the standings.
