Sam Shaw

Sam Shaw was one of Coach Hudson’s first recruits. This 6’3” White Rock native was originally pegged as their setter of the future.  Four years later, Shaw is now a full-time leftside player and still showing the athleticism and passion for the game that Hudson saw in him then. Despite not having played as an outside hitter till this season, Shaw has racked up some remarkable numbers.

In the final weekend of league play, the Royals played host to the Blues from North Vancouver. Friday, Shaw finished the night with 14 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace and 4 digs in the Royals 3-0 victory. In Saturday’s rematch, the Royals once again handed the Blues another loss as Shaw chipped in 8 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace and 5 digs for a weekend total of 22 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces and 9 digs. The Royals defended home court sweeping both matches finishing the season with a record of 19-5 … good for 2nd place in the PACWEST.

The Royals now look forward to hosting the 2011-12 PACWEST Volleyball Provincial Championships on Feb.23/25.
