Sunday afternoon the PACWEST crowned its top golfers following the PACWEST championship tournament.
On the men’s leaderboard Daniel Campbell of the UFV Cascades didn’t have his best round, but he didn’t need to. Heading into the final round Campbell had a seven stroke lead and had gold in his sights. He finished Sunday with a 77 and a cumulative score of 214, good enough for his second straight PACWEST gold medal. His total was four strokes better than teammate Kyle Claggett and eight strokes better than bronze medalist Wyatt Brook of the VIU Mariners.
Dustin Franko of the Douglas Royals had Sunday’s best round as he shot a 72, pulling him into a tie with Brook and forcing a one-hole playoff in which Brook won to capture the bronze medal.
The Cascades men’s team also cruised to the championship banner with a total of 889, 18 strokes better than the Camosun Chargers. The UBC Okanagan Heat finished third compiling a total of 923.
The women’s gold medal came down to a one-hole, winner take all, playoff between Alex Foston of the Mariners and Samantha Copeland of the Heat.
